An issue we are battling with at the Rescue right now is Twilight's weight. Maybe it's because Old Man Sushi is such a slow, delicate eater that she's getting most of the food, maybe it's because Twilight would rather nap than run a lap, but she's shot up to around 30 percent heavier than her ideal weight.

Obesity can lead to all sorts of health problems, so we need to encourage her to exercise and shed the grams. For my part, I've been standing around laughing uncontrollably whenever I see the way her butt wobbles when she moves. (Hey, don't judge me people, I'm trying to be motivating! Or, no, definitely motivating.)

Sushi of course is being very helpful...

"How about this: Put me in a little chariot with the food, have Pea, Pod, Cosmos and Goofy pull it round the Rescue and Twilight can chase behind eating out the back?"

Sticky Nose

I don't know about you, but I rarely find that the phrase "sticking your nose in where it's not wanted" can be applied to bunnies. Especially when they're sticking their cute little noses in your face to say hello! Who wouldn't want that??!!

"Greetings! Are you here to hang out?"

Tuesday Tail #14

"To answer your questions: No it's not made of candy floss, yes me pointing it at you means you have displeased me and no you most certainly may NOT 'honk' it like a clown nose."

Bank Holiday Special

As it's a holiday today, this week's Monday Mouf is brought to you by my own special little fluffster. Enjoy!

"Breakfast was acceptable. Now, bring me the dessert menu and maybe an aperitif or two to sup while I peruse it..."

The Hidden Whisky

It's a bank holiday weekend (no work Monday), half-term week (no school for kids all week) which started with lots of heavy rain Saturday. Translation? No volunteers! Consequently I spent much of Saturday and Sunday at the Rescue helping out, which totally wiped me out. After all that cleaning, I had no energy left yesterday to put a post together, but that's OK, it just means you get two today! Assuming I can continue to lift my arms to type for another 20 minutes or so, which is feeling more unlikely by the keystroke...

As for today, the rain looks like drowning out any chance of getting the little ones outside so I might be looking at a day on the sofa aching and groaning gently to myself. Just as soon as I give Whisky his medicines of course - now, where did I put that bunny?

"Nothing to see here, and if you're not going outside then certainly no need to open this curtain."

Bunnies in the Bathroom

"See? This is exactly why we ASKED you to move the bathroom lock down to our level, so you WOULDN'T be walking in on us doing...whatever things us bunnies might want to be doing in here!"

Young Buns 6

Our little litter of six who came in a month or so back have featured on here a number of times already. They are such excitable and fun little characters, it's not difficult to get photo's of them looking interesting and adorable.

What's not been so easy is getting a group shot as when you go in their shed they are all over the place. But I wanted to show them all at once, so I've had a few goes with various degrees of failure. Then it occurred to me, there was an obvious solution:- take the photo's at breakfast time.

"OMG snacks! What's for breakfast??!!!"

"Wait, didn't we have these yesterday?"

Sorry guys, your tummies might still be a bit young for veggies! Luckily, every young bun loves these tasty baby pellets.

Amy tells me these guys are still without names. If anyone has any ideas for a theme or set of names we might not have used before, please let us know in the comments below or via the link to this post on our Facebook page! We never use a name twice, so have a look at the name cloud to the right on the blog to get an idea of what names and themes we've used before.

Thanks everyone!

Two Dutch-in-the-mix Monday Moufs in a row? Well, I do declare!

The Sunday Loaf

Whisky has all sorts of signature moves and positions when it comes to taking a relaxing nap, but for some reason he decided to go for the common old everybun 'classic loaf' today. Perhaps he's trying to convince me he's just a regular bunny, in the hope that regular bunnies don't get hauled off to the vets every week. Judging by that sad face, I'm pretty sure he knows it's not working. Sorry Whisky...

More Earses

The keen-eyed among you may have spotted that yesterdays baby pic was from the same set as the others, which makes the picture around a week old. So you probably want to see what those earses look like today right? Well you're in luck, cos the ickle babeh bunnehs are now properly out and about causing chaos (and bundly pile-ups of squee!).

A Random Selection of Updates

Just a few random updates today...

First of all, you may have noticed a couple of pics of tiny new babies on here and Facebook. A couple of weeks ago we agreed to take in four girls from another centre. Although we are rammed to the rafters with abandoned bunnies, the other centre was desperate and we actually had a shortage of single girls that week for bereaved boy bunnies coming in looking for partners, so we agreed to take them figuring they'd be re-homed quickly. What we didn't know until they arrived was that they had little families growing inside them fathered by the boy they had been rescued with by the other centre. Giving birth so soon after a stressful journey, one litter sadly didn't stand much of a chance, but the others faired better. So it looks like our intake of four has turned into at least a dozen more.

In parallel to this, we are dealing with another large case which has involved co-ordination with several other rescues as there was no way we could have taken all the bunnies ourselves. This has been taking all of Caroline's time especially as many are not in a good way, with rampant snuffles throughout the lot and several in GI stasis. Monday I agreed to cover the Rescue for much of the day and on top of my usual feeding/water/sweeping had to spend much of it cradling one poor tiny soul trying to encourage him to syringe feed.

Back at home, the fosters are doing OK. Last week Anouska somehow managed to rip a claw out and proceeded to cover the upstairs in blood until I could get hold of her and sort it out. Meanwhile, Bobbit has continued to be predictably crazy every time they go outside with higher and higher binkies. Typically, he does his highest and craziest when I am not close enough to photograph them, but I am determined to get a decent one of him for Binky Day this year.

Whisky has had a brief bout of depression, only for about a day, which has fortunately now transitioned into being just plain fed-up with me. The trigger was being put on eyedrops, which he detests, and now oral meds too, having also had a tear duct flush every week for the last three, trying to clear an infection. It's nothing new, it's right where that tooth root grew through his face, but this time the infection is being slightly harder to shift. Flush number three was yesterday and the vet thinks there is improvement, fully expecting it to be cleared within the next week.

Well, that's about it. My ongoing project to move old pictures off my laptop to make space for new ones is turning out to be trickier than I thought - the old ones are much smaller than the new ones, so I've already re-filled the last chunk of space I made! So that's another big job on the "to do" list. But you don't mind if I just post pictures of all the babies and little-uns on here until I can sort that out do you? No? Thought not!

In the meantime, here's my own little grumpus...

"And this extra stuff going on affects you making my"

Hay Is Important

One of the key things we find ourselves trying to explain to new owners is how important hay is. It should make up around 80 percent of a rabbits diet, they should be eating a ball of hay about the size of themselves every day. This helps them to keep their constantly growing teeth in check and aids proper gut motility. They can also use it for bedding.

In order to emphasise just how important hay is, today we will skip the cute bunny pictures and just have a close up of a piece of hay, nothing but hay. Enjoy.

See you back here tomorrow for more bunnies.

Tuesday Tail #11

A bit of retro tail today, just because I happened to come across this picture yesterday and it brought a tear to my eye. The photo's a bit out of focus but I love it anyway:- My handsome boy Elvis, bounding about full of life, back in July 2011.

Bearded Floofy

Not content with his ever changing furstyles, I'm pretty sure BC is now working on different styles of beards...

Flock of Houdinis

You know that thing, where you have Photoshop open, and you're looking at a picture of Houdini with his ears out like wings, and you start wondering what he would look like flying through the air, then you absent-mindedly copy him over a picture of some sky and fields, then you start wondering what a FLOCK of Houdinis would look like and before you know it you've absent-mindedly copied him a bunch of times over the picture, and you realise a flock of Houdinis would be kind of awesome, but now you're looking at this crazy picture wondering if you've maybe spent too much of your time the last few weeks staring at computer code and seeing how many times you can get 4096 on the 2048 game and maybe, just MAYBE you think to yourself, you might be starting to lose your sanity JUST A LITTLE BIT? You know? That thing? No? Just me then I guess.
